The LA District Attorney's Office houses all the information and documentation on criminal cases. Evereything from the investigation to the trials. Every police report and rare document is there, along with boxloads of evidence and photographs.

Researchers only, can write to the new DA over the Manson case, Patric Sequeira and get permission to dive in. It's all in the public record but this is just proceedure.

Great archive of television newsreel footage, interviews, parole hearings and so forth. Footage can be viewed on site in a state-of-the-art audiovisual lab for free. You will have to book and order the footagea before you show up. They have online access to their archive. Copies can be made of certain tapes (most newsreel footage) for a price.
